The Steelers Had A First Round Grade On Jaxson Dart

The Steelers Had A First Round Grade On Jaxson Dart

Although it’s not officially official just yet, it sure seems like Aaron Rodgers will eventually be the starting quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers this year. If Rodgers wasn’t a possibility for the Steelers, they may have gone in a different direction during the 2025 NFL Draft. A report has surfaced that Pittsburgh actually had a first round grade on Jaxson Dart.

The report comes from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette insider Gerry Dulac. It’s locked behind a paywall, but if you want to read his column, here you go. You can do that or click the link at the bottom where he repeated it on a recent appearance of the Rich Eisen Show. I have no idea how anyone watches that trash Rich Eisen show, but the quotes are there for you below so you don’t have to watch the clip.

“I will tell you Rich that they have a first-round grade on Jaxson Dart, and they really like Shedeur Sanders. Despite whatever post was put out there that he had a terrible meeting [and] it did not go well. Nothing could be further from the truth. They like the guy. They had a great meeting with him,” Dulac said.

The Steelers ended up going with Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, which really wasn’t a surprise. Apparently, Harmon was Pittsburgh’s favorite player in the draft, and that was widely reported. It’s more of a matter of what they would have done if Harmon was off the board.

I’ll leave you with this. By the way, we’ve heard this story before. Never forget the Steelers also had a first round grade on Mason Rudolph… (true story).

Heading into 2025, the Steelers have Rudolph and Will Howard on the depth chart, prior to what seems like Rodgers joining that group in the somewhat near future.
