Sorry Braves Fans, Freddie Freeman Is Having A Great Season

Braves fans were put through the wringer in the offseason. What seemed like a joyous occasion as defending World Champions was tarnished. First baseman Freddie Freeman signed with the Dodgers, rather than Atlanta, whom he spent his entire career with.

Man if these fans reacted with anger. Loyalty was out the window, unfortunately, as Freeman clearly was looking at new horizons. The move paid dividends for the Dodgers.

As of Sept 26th, Freddie is batting .328/.405/.517 with 20 home runs, 46 doubles, and 191 hits. He leads the majors in batting average, doubles, and hits which could in fact lead him to his second MVP award. Many thought his performance would dip considerably, but this looks to be quite the contrary.

Braves fans initially dismissed the move obviously. They had their sights on new first baseman Matt Olson, who hit 39 home runs in 2021. Some fans considered Olson to be on direct par with Freeman.

So far Olson has had a far worse season than Freddie. Sure the power numbers are higher but his slash line of .233/.318/.450 is subpar, to say the least. People also were unsure if Freddie even liked playing in Los Angeles. This was proven wrong as Mookie Betts and he has developed a steady relationship.

Freeman has led his Dodger team to an insane 106-47. They have clinched home-field advantage up until the World Series. The Braves on the other hand are struggling to reach first place, still trailing the Mets by a game and a half. Both teams are destined to go far, but Freddie was that X-Factor piece.

This hurts a ton for Braves fans. Freeman came up throughout his entire career as a member of Atlanta, spending 12 years there. He consistently was amazing and was indeed a fan favorite. Matt Olson is a solid player, yet didn’t have that attraction that Braves fans had for Freddie.
