Long Beach native and legendary rapper Snoop Dogg will now be the presenting sponsor for the college football Arizona Bowl, with the game now to be called “Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl Presented by Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop,” it was announced Monday.
Snoop Dogg will now replace the previous presenting sponsor of Barstool Sports, which held the sponsorship rights from 2021-2023.
“College football fans are exhausted by the constant talk around NIL, conference realignment, coach movement, transfer portal and super conferences,” Snoop Dogg said in a social media post. “So it’s time we get back to the roots of college football when it was focused on the colleges, the players, the competition, the community, the fan experience and the pageantry.”
“Being a fan, coach and supporter of all levels of the game, I sent many players through my SYFL (Snoop Youth Football League) to colleges and the NFL. So it’s only fitting that I step up and help get this thing right. I’m ready to bring the juice back to college football. And uh, I’m taking my talents — that’s right, to Arizona. Believe me, Arizona, baby. I’m here to announce the new collaboration the ‘Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl Presented by Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop.'”
The last Arizona Bowl game was held on Dec. 30, 2023, between Toledo and Wyoming, with the Pokes taking the win, 16-15. The next Arizona Bowl game will be held on Christmas Eve.
Snoop won’t be the first living celebrity to have a bowl game named after, as Jimmy Kimmel had the sponsorship naming rights for the LA Bowl.
The Arizona Bowl will also be included in the NCAA Football game, as it was mentioned that every bowl game will be included in the game.
