Our coverage of all 32 teams for their value on SimBull NFL leads us to the New Orleans Saints, or SimSaints. The Saints went 12-4 last year, winning the NFC South, but lost in the divisional round against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20. Since the end of their season, there have been some major developments surrounding this Saints organization, which we will get into shortly. Is this team still one you should look into investing in, or has the sun set for now? If you want to check out our most recent post on the Patriots, click here.
With the retirement of Drew Brees this off-season, there are a lot of question marks surrounding the future of this team. But if you look at their roster, there is still a ton to like. Their offensive line is still among the better lines in the NFC, anchored by newly highest-paid tackle Ryan Ramczyk. There are weapons all over the field, including Michael Thomas at receiver and Alvin Kamara in the backfield. The Saints have an underrated defense as well, led by Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis, and Marshon Lattimore among others. With Sean Payton still at the helm, this team has the potential to make some noise in the NFC again this year.
The guy in the image above. That’s why you avoid investing in this team. For whatever reason, the Saints decided to back the Brinks trucks up to the Hill household and give him a MASSIVE extension. I have zero faith that Taysom Hill can lead an offense to even an above-average record, no matter who is coaching or who he has on his offense. Yes, the current starting Quarterback on the Saints depth chart is Jameis Winston, but you don’t give out that kind of money to a backup. He has to be the “long-term” plan for this team, and that plan is going to fail. Plus, the NFC south got significantly better this off-season.
The Saints stock has plummeted since the end of last season, currently sitting at $39 which is 9th lowest on SimBull NFL. While that is an intriguing price to invest in a team that has been great for a decade or so now, I don’t have faith in any Quarterback on the roster. Jameis Winston may have fantasy upside, but that doesn’t always translate to wins. My advice would be to pass on investing in the Saints, for now. Keep an eye as the season progresses, though.
