Should The Broncos Trade Patrick Surtain II?

The Denver Broncos stink and Sean Payton is miserable already. Who could have predicted that? Shocker, right? We know that Payton is going to be in Denver next year and the task now is trying to liquidate and rebuild for a better tomorrow. You can’t help but look at Patrick Surtain II given the fact that he’s far and away their best trade chip.

Should Denver actually consider parting ways with Surtain? I guess it depends on how you look at it but there is no question that the Broncos should listen to phone calls for him.

Surtain, 23, is slowly emerging as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Not that it’s a surprised if you watched him at Alabama. The OG Patrick Surtain was damn good too. The entire Broncos defense is a mess. They’re the 32nd ranked defense in the league and Vance Joseph couldn’t be dumber. It’s why I don’t want to dive into the stats too far but it’s worth noting Surtain is the one saving grace.

6-foot-2, 4.47 speed, 32-inch arms, and had 12 games last year where he allowed 25 yards or fewer in coverage. He’s a damn stud and would be a game changer for any defense.

It’s a matter of what the offers are going to be. I think Surtain is good enough and young enough to where he would command a first round pick back. We’re talking about the 9th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Every non-QB in the top end of that draft turned into a stud.

I understand that Denver would prefer to hang onto Surtain but this team stinks. Who else gets you excited about this Broncos team? Denver not only needs a new quarterback but an entire new roster. For a team that already idiotically gave away draft picks to acquire Sean Payton, this would be one way to replace them.
