Should the Dallas Cowboys Trade Dak Prescott?

Should the Dallas Cowboys Trade Dak Prescott?

I am a known Dak Prescott believer. At least, I was going into this season. I was of the belief that there was always something holding him and this Dallas Cowboys team back.

Oh, how the tides have turned.

I am out on Prescott. Completely. The game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs this year was almost detrimental to his career. It gave Cowboys fans across the world belief in this team that they can go out and make a run at a Super Bowl. Their focus should just be making an NFC Conference Championship first.

The writing is on the wall, and I am finally seeing it. Prescott will never lead this Cowboys team to a Super Bowl. So, why hold on to him and his cap hit just to make the Divisional Round every year and fall on your face?

Attempting to ship Prescott off with his cap hit will not be easy. He is on the books next year for north of $30 million, and that will be a lot for a team to take on.

However, there are a few teams out there who either have the players or the available cap space to make a move like this. Here are three teams who could pull off a move for Prescott.

1. Las Vegas Raiders

Who says no to a clean swap of Derek Carr and Dak Prescott? Both guys get a fresh start, they are making similar enough amounts of money this year, so the cap hit isn’t bad for either team. Getting a new quarterback provides Vegas the chance to take a player along either line with pick seven, instead of possibly taking a young quarterback and fully resetting. They are at a crossroads this offseason, maybe this helps them.

2. New York Jets

Zach Wilson is not the answer for the Jets — clearly. This team could legit have made a run at a playoff spot this last season had they had a competent player under center. They have the run game, the defense and a good coaching staff. With the Patriots being bad and Miami being questionable to trust, maybe Prescott is the answer to a playoff return for Gang Green.

No. 3: Tampa Bay Buccanneers

What a twist of fate this would be. Tom Brady might be gone this offseason, leaving that division up for grabs for literally anyone. The NFC South is a dumpster fire right now. With Brady leaving, there would be a clear void at quarterback. Prescott could very easily fill that role and lead Tampa Bay back to the top of the division.

Are the Dallas Cowboys cursed? Did Trey Daubert secretly place a curse on them like he publically did with the Titans? Because there’s no way this team is just that terrible come the Divisional Round.

It might not all be Dak Prescott’s fault this season, but I think everyone has seen enough. It’s time to ship him out of town and start fresh.
