Should The Chiefs Trade For Mike Evans?

Yes. Is that an easy enough answer? Of course, they should. In fact, Brett Veach should be calling Tampa every single day about Mike Evans or he’s not doing his job. If we learned anything from Week 1 of the 2023-24 NFL Season, it’s the fact that Kansas City is incredibly flawed and it’s entirely Veach’s fault.

I said it once and I’ll say it 100 more times. Brett Veach should be slapped for taking Skyy Moore ahead of George Pickens. It was indefensible at the time and still is now. What does Moore bring to the table? He was terrible as a rookie and clearly has a ceiling that won’t peak as anything more than a gadget guy.

This roster is filled with bums at the wide receiver spot. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is the definition of average. Richie James may as well be the decapitated version of Tyreek Hill. Do we even need to talk about Kadarius Toney?

Justyn Ross stood on the sidelines watching his bum teammates fail him after he was the only guy to catch the only target thrown his way. Even if Ross becomes a factor, the Chiefs still need another target. Travis Kelce is a total game changer but it’s blatantly obvious this WR core is broken with or without him.

It’s already been reported that Evans won’t be extended by the Bucs during the season. Evans could be on the move at the deadline if things go south for Tampa Bay. Given where they stand roster wise, that’s probably likely.

The Chiefs are in win now mode and if Veach is just going to keep flushing picks down the toilet for bums, he may as well use them on a guy that can actually play. It’s time to go get Mike Evans. It’s time to look in the mirror and acknowledge that Veach really isn’t that smart. The same guy that passed on Pickens for Moore is the same guy that took Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round. Evans fits this Chiefs team perfectly as a rich man’s MVS. Get it done or suffer the consequences.
