NBA and Seattle Sonics legend Shawn Kemp has been booked for an alleged drive-by shooting. This altercation happened at 1:58 p.m. on March 8, according to Tacoma Police Department.
Tacoma Police Department released a statement on their Twitter on the occurrence that happened yesterday afternoon.
“At 1:58 pm, an altercation between the occupants of 2 cars led to shots being fired at a parking lot in the 4500 blk of S. Steele St. One car fled. No injuries were reported. A gun was recovered. A 53-yr-old male was booked for Drive-By Shooting. The investigation is ongoing,” via Tacoma Police Department Twitter.
ESPN NBA Senior Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the individual involved in firing the shots was Kemp. They currently book Kemp in the Pierce County (Wash.) Jail. As of right now, Kemp has no court date, sentence date/bail, or sentence fine. The investigation is continuing to unfold. The 53-year-old has made no further comments on the situation at hand.
Over the course of his career, Kemp played a big part in the uprising of the Seattle SuperSonics. He played in Seattle for eight out of 14 NBA seasons. In his time in Seattle, Kemp was selected to six NBA All-Star games. At the end of his career, Kemp averaged around 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists per game on around 49% field goal percentage.
The six-time All-Star would play almost 1,100 NBA games in his career. He played for the Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic.
