With the disheartening news about Saquon Barkley tearing his ACL this week, we have to look elsewhere for fantasy production. It’s sad to hear about Saquon Barkley, but the fantasy season doesn’t stop just because he is now out for the season.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably scrambling for your life trying to figure out what to do for a Saquon Barkley replacement. Well, I don’t know who is available on your waiver wire, so I’d like to avoid that topic for the time being. It would be wise to check that out. I can safely tell you that Dion Lewis will be available this week on the waiver wire.
Dion Lewis is obviously no Saquon Barkley, but as a Saquon Barkley replacement, he could still be decent.
What made Barkley so enticing is his ability to catch out the backfield. Dion Lewis can, and already did that with the Tennessee Titans. That role is not new for him. Daniel Jones will have to throw so much more to keep the Giants in games now, which in turn, increases Daniel Jones’s potential to be a fantasy stud. With Dion Lewis being a more catch-passing back anyway, he could be a sneaky good fantasy option for the Giants.
Nothing can be done about Barkley and his injury. There is no coming back this season. However, you should explore the waiver wire and see who is available. Analysts are not big on Wayne Gallman, the other Giants’ RB. Between the two, Lewis is a more accomplished, and well rounded running back. Lewis has big shoes to fill, but he could be helpful in PPR leagues.
