Are the New York Jets going to kill Sam Darnold? This team is so cursed it’s embarrassing. How does your quarterback get mono in the first place? Darnold has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Eagles. We now know why. Sam Darnold doesn’t want to die. Yes, that’s a real thing.
“I want to make sure I’m safe out there and that, you know, I’m not going to die,”
Makes sense to me. The problem is with Darnold’s spleen. With the mono sickness, if he gets hit too hard, it could burst. If that happens… dead. Darnold did return to practice in non-contact drills. The good news is he’s moving around and throwing the ole pigskin around. The bad news is the Jets season is over and haven’t won a game yet.
The Jets early season schedule is so brutal. They get Philadelphia this week. Then, the Jets get Dallas right after. You can’t even make that up. Trust me, I’m going through it right now. If you’re a depressed Jets fan, I encourage you to watch my Madden series. It may bring some joy to your heart. Watch a Jets team that actually has a fighting chance. Otherwise, you’re stuck watching Luke Falk for one more week. Nobody wants that.
The mono couldn’t have come at a worse time for Darnold. The former third overall pick in 2018 finished the season off strong. In Week one against the Bills, he completed 68 percent of his throws but in typical Jets fashion, watched his defense blow a huge lead. At least Jet fans know they have a real quarterback. It just remains to be seen when he plays. Only the Jets could make their quarterback die on the field. Take your time on this one, Sammy.
