Four-Star PG Rowan Brumbaugh Commits to Northwestern
Class of 2022 four-star point guard Rowan Brumbaugh committed to Northwestern today over the likes of Kansas, Texas, Miami, Oregon and Maryland. Brumbaugh is a rising star in his class, having jumped up many recruiting sites’ leaderboards in the spring/summer season. He is Northwestern and Chris Collins’ first recruit of the 2022 cycle.
When asked why he chose the Wildcats, Brumbaugh emphasized that taking the road less travelled was an important factor in the decision making process:
“I’m going to be betting on myself and going to Northwestern. I’ve always been that type of kid who goes against what’s the “right way”. With these super sexy high majors like Kansas and Texas I feel like I’m good enough to put a program like Northwestern on the map and really build a program like that up. I want to play against the schools like Kansas and Duke and go head to head with them and beat them. I’ve always been the type of kid to bet on myself and do it a different way.”

He also said that the faith Collins and the rest of the Northwestern staff have in him played a major role in the process:
“They want the ball in my hands from day one. I’ve had such a good relationship with coach Collins and his dad, Doug Collins, and they see a lot of potential in me and really believe in me, and are about the things I’m all in.”

The 6-4 point guard can drive any offense. His stock will improve as his offensive game becomes more consistent, but as a floor general he possesses a high basketball IQ, a clear ability to get to the rim, and is a strong facilitator. With Brumbaugh pledged to the Wildcats, Collins can turn his focus to the rest of the 2022 class and potentially commence a new era of Wildcat hoops.
