Ronaldo Souza is no longer on the UFC roster after his loss to Andre Muniz at UFC 262. The loss came via armbar submission, and Souza actually broke his arm in the fight. Souza’s fight against Muniz was the final fight of his three-fight deal with the UFC, but even if the UFC does not sign him to a new deal, he could still fight for Bellator, PFL, Cage Warriors, or anywhere else.
Souza has struggled in the last three years or so. He won only two of his seven previous fights going back to 2018, but many of them have come against the top fighters of the division, and he even moved up to fight Jan Blachowicz at light heavyweight. Souza has also lost to Kevin Holland and Jack Hermanson in the last two years.
I am hopeful that UFC 262 was not the last time we see Ronaldo Souza. He is a legend of combat sports, a great fighter, and is tremendously entertaining to watch. Dana White must give him another shot in the UFC.
