Roman Dolidze is the next big UFC Middleweight Division prospect

Roman Dolidze is a UFC fighter in the middleweight division. He is an entertaining up-and-coming fighter that can make some waves in a division that lacks real title challengers.

The middleweight division is very top-heavy as champion Alex Pereira, former champion Israel Adesanya, and former champion Robert Whittaker have clearly separated themselves from the pack. There are some interesting contenders like Paulo Costa and Andre Muniz. Now, Dolidze can possibly add his name to the mix.

Dolidze is currently 5-1 in the UFC after his first fight in 2020. In his short UFC career, he has three finishes and two decisions. He has two big-name wins against unranked fighters, defeating Kyle Daukaus and Phil Hawes.

Dolidze is a fairly balanced fighter as he is a solid striker and a good wrestler. He uses a mix of punches, kicks and knees to finish his opponents. He has relatively quick hands and he is able to string together multiple combinations in his fights. His quick and accurate combinations were fully on display in his knockout of Hawes and his explosive use of knees can be seen in his knockout of Daukaus.

Dolidze has also shown competence in his ground-and-pound skills but he is not the strongest in jiu-jitsu. Another huge aspect of his fighting style is his strong chin which he uses to stay in the pocket and trade with his opponents. He has yet to be finished in part due to his granite chin and his ability to quickly recover.

What is next for Roman Dolidze

Dolidze has replaced Derek Brunson and the Georgian is now set to fight Jack Hermansson on Dec. 3. This is a huge step up for Dolidze as it will be his first fight against a ranked opponent.

Hermansson is not the most skilled fighter, but the eighth-ranked fighter has some good names on his record and some great performances under his belt. Dolidze will look to prove to everyone that he belongs in the top ten with a win against Hermansson.

If Roman Dolidze can pull off another stunning knockout then the middleweight division just might have a new contender.
