Rocket League News: Squishy officially leaves NRG

There was a huge development in the Rocket League community as Squishy has officially left NRG, one of the top professional teams, he announced Wednesday on Twitter.

Rocket League is a popular video game, developed by Psyonix, that has a die-hard fan base. It is a vehicular soccer game where teams of up to four players face off against each other to try to score the most goals. The game is often referred to as “rocket-powered car soccer” which is true but it is also so much more complex than that.

NRG is a professional gaming team that plays multiple games such as Apex Legends, overwatch, and the aforementioned Rocket League. Squishy joined NRG in 2020 and immediately hit it off with teammates “GarrettG” and “Jstn.” This team has amassed many accolades and fans with their elite skill. RL players and fans across the world were entertained by the group’s jaw-dropping moments in tournaments. Their best achievement was when Squishy, Jstn and GarrettG won the Rocket League Season X North American Championship.

However, all good things must come to an end. Squishy is leaving NRG, as he starts a new journey to get back to the top of the mountain of Rocket League glory. He was incredibly grateful for his time with NRG and he was excited for what lies ahead. This news shook up the RL community but fans can take a breath knowing Squishy will be back.

More Information on Rocket League

Rocket League was originally released back in July 2015 on the PlayStation 4. I remember playing this game when it first came out and having a lot of fun with this unique but simple concept. I like a lot of other gamers was not able to play it frequently, until it was released on Xbox One until February of 2016.

The game was then free to play in September 2020. However, fans can pay for cosmetics whether that be skins, wheels, rocket trails or toppers in the RL shop. This game has grown exponentially since its release and still has a dedicated fan base. Eight years and two generations of consoles later, Rocket League is still a blast to play. This game has not shown signs of slowing down with its loyal fan base, continued support from developers, and exciting Esports scene.
