WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championships have been around since 2019. It is fair to say that the titles have been very underutilized by WWE. Often, the WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championship get viewed as a prop with no real meaning behind them. You can tell WWE didn’t give much thought or effort to the titles or the storylines revolving around them. This made WWE superstars upset and two even took action.
Sasha Banks and Naomi were the thirteenth women to hold the tag-team championships. They held them for 46 days before they relinquished them. Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of Monday Night Raw, after dropping tag-team championships on John Laurinaitis’ desk back in May. The two were reportedly upset with how WWE has been treating the tag-team championships. Banks and Naomi felt like WWE was putting no effort into the titles, and I think the majority of the people agree with that.
WWE suspended Banks and Naomi indefinitely after they walked out back in May. We haven’t seen either on WWE television since the incident. About a week after that, WWE announced they were going to hold a tournament to crown new WWE Women’s Tag-Team Champions. That was in May and, as of right now, there has still been no added information about the tournament. WWE talent has heard no word about when the tag-team tournament will happen, according to Fightful Select.
Sasha Banks and Naomi relinquished the titles because they felt like there was no effort being put into the WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championship titles, and they are right. The fact that WWE has not announced anything about the tournament since May, just shows how little they care about the titles. The fact that WWE talent hasn’t even heard anything regarding the titles is even more evidence that WWE never really cared much about the titles.
