AEW Fyter Fest Week 1, 2022 Preview: First Time Ever Match Set To Take Place

AEW Fyter Fest is an event AEW has been putting on for the past three years. It is supposed to be a pay-per-view quality show, but for free. The shows are stacked with must-see matches every year, and this one is no different. The event takes place over two weeks, with a show on Wednesday night. Here is a preview for week one of AEW Fyter Fest.

We Hear From Christian Cage & Luchasaurus Is In Action

Christian Cage has been shocking wrestling fans every week with his personal attacks against Jungle Boy and his family. Last week, he took shots at Jeff Hardy after Matt Hardy came out to defend Jungle Boy. Luchasaurus brutally attacked Hardy after the promo, giving us a glimpse of how evil he can be. This is likely going to be a promo from Cage, and I won’t be surprised if someone comes out to aid Jungle Boy. We haven’t seen or heard from Jungle Boy since Cage turned on him, so he is due back any time now. Luchasaurus is set to be in action, so I expect a squash match.

Anna Jay vs Serena Deeb

Serena Deeb ended her tag team relationship with Mercedes Martinez on last week’s episode of Rampage. Mercedes Martinez is the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion, and Deeb has made it clear she wants the title. After their tag-team match, Deeb attacked Martinez, and now the two are set to face for the ROH Women’s Title at Ring of Honor’s pay-per-view, Death Before Dishonor. This is likely to be a warm-up match for Deeb since she has been mostly competing in tag-team wrestling matches.

We Hear From Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston are not done with each other. After their brutal match at Blood & Guts, Kingston was mad he didn’t make Jericho bleed. Kingston was cutting a promo on Dynamite and Jericho interrupted it. He was joined by the Jericho Appreciation Society, and they slammed a car door into the arm of Ruby Soho. It was announced the following day that Eddie Kingston will face Chris Jericho in a Barbed Wire Deathmatch, with the Jericho Appreciation Society suspended in a shark cage above the ring for Fyter Fest week two. We will likely hear from Jericho about the match for AEW Fyter Fest week two.

Claudio Castagnoli vs Jake Hager

Claudio and Hager were backstage at Dynamite last week, cutting a promo. Hager said Claudio has never won a world title, and he won’t win one here. Claudio told Hager he was going to beat him again since he is already 2-0 against Hager. The match was made official, and the two are set to face off. Claudio is looking to build on his momentum with a big win against Jake Hager. The two have a history in WWE, so I expect this to be a good contest.

*Tag-Team Championship Match*

Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee vs Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs vs The Young Bucks (c)

Strickland and Lee have had trust issues as of late. Ever since Strickland eliminated Lee from the Battle Royal, Strickland has been looking to earn back his partner’s trust. They have been winning, despite the lack of trust. Starks and Hobbs interrupted Strickland and Lee after their win on Dynamite, saying how they weren’t on their level. Starks and Hobbs got interrupted by the Young Bucks, who came out and challenged the two teams to a tag-team championship match for Fyter Fest. These are three of the best tag-teams on the roster, so this match has all of the ingredients to be a good one.

*TNT Championship Match*

Orange Cassidy vs Wardlow (c)

This is the first time these two will face each other in a singles competition. This is also Wardlow’s first title defense since winning the TNT Championship on last week’s episode of Dynamite. Cassidy has been having a great run since returning a few weeks ago. He has all the momentum in the world on his side to help take down Wardlow. Wardlow has over fifty wins in AEW and finally claimed his first title last week. He is a powerhouse who is always looking for a fight. You can’t find two wrestlers with this much of a contrast in styles. Every Cassidy match is fun, so this one will be worth watching.

Konosuke Takeshita vs Jon Moxley (c)

Moxley is the interim AEW World Champion and has his first title defense against Brody King. Moxley has proven himself a fighting champion, so I expect he will see a lot of title defenses. He is going up against the young and rising star who is Konosuke Takeshita. Takeshita primarily wrestles in DDT, but has been wrestling in AEW Dark and other promotions lately. He is coming off of a loss to Eddie Kingston, but he impressed in that match. This is a non-title match, but if Takeshita wins, he earns a future title shot. I can’t see him winning, but I think he will get a lot of first-time viewers watching him. This one is going to be hard-hitting and a must-see match.
