The Red Sox finally hired a new general manager and his name is Chaim Bloom. The Red Sox went the Tampa Bay route and hired Bloom from the Rays front office. Bloom spent the past few years as the Rays GM but now gets a promotion to a team that actually has financial resources. Bloom goes from the poorest team in baseball to one of the richest.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported the news:
The Red Sox probably should have hired me. However, this is the next best thing. I love this hire. It was the only move that made sense. Bloom was the only guy interviewed for the job. Anybody that gets the Rays to the playoffs knows what they’re doing. Bloom has made some really smart moves during his Tampa tenure. His best move was the Chris Archer deal snagging Austin Meadows, Tyler Glasnow, and Shane Baz. It’s possible that is the biggest home run trade in the last 10 years. Bloom also made some smart moves trading for Yandy Diaz and signing Charlie Morton. Bloom has shown he knows what he’s doing. I’m very happy with this hire.
I hope Bloom listens to my recommended offseason plan. Trade Jackie Bradley and JD Martinez. Find and develop some pitching. Fix the bullpen. This team is right back in the World Series mix. I expect a short turn around here. All hail Chaim Bloom. I trust what Bloom has planned… for now. Side note. Remember when ass clown Buster Olney said “nobody wanted the Red Sox Gm job”??? What an IDIOT!
