The Red Sox Can’t Wait For Vladimir Guerrero Jr. To Reach Free Agency

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. kinda, sorta, already declared his intention to sign with the Red Sox in free agency if he hits the open market. I’m just not sure what Boston is waiting for to bring him to Fenway Park? There is one obvious reason why the Sox shouldn’t wait for Vladdy Jr. to reach free agency. I’m just not sure Craig Breslow is smart enough to figure it out, which seems to be the case since thus far he’s shown he has no forward-thinking skills.

We already know how this is going to go. The nerds won’t pay up the price tag necessary to land Vladdy Jr. because he’s a first baseman. I’m not sure why the nerds somehow devalue that position but it’s the same reason the Mets don’t want to pay Pete Alonso. It’s also why the Blue Jays are struggling to get an extension done. All these losers do is stare at their analytics sheet and it’s so obvious.

Speaking of the Mets, it’s the exact reason why the Sox can’t wait. This Sal Licata is an idiot but he’s onto something. My guess is it’s the exact reason why they don’t want to lock into Alonso.

By the way, we just saw what happens when the Mets and Red Sox get into a bidding war. It was called Juan Soto. When the Mets want someone on the open market, they’re going to win every time because Steve Cohen cannot be outbid. This Red Sox ownership group has proven they’re the exact opposite. When is the last time they won a bidding war for a top free agent?

I’ve already spoken at great length about why the Red Sox must get this done. Vladdy Jr. represents the modern day David Ortiz for this Red Sox team. Imagine Rafael Devers and Vladdy Jr. in the middle of the lineup? By the way, the Red Sox need a power right-handed bat in the worst way possible. This checks that box big time.

A general manager with balls would have gotten this done already. Unfortunately, the Red Sox have Craig Breslow and we know he doesn’t have any.
