The Detroit Lions are the Hard Knocks team this year and after one episode (That I’ve seen) Dan Campbell is the star of the show. The Lions might be a sad and pathetic franchise but Campbell just appears to be the perfect guy for the job. Campbell is nuts, totally authentic, and the exact guy Detroit needs.
I’m rooting for him. That’s all I’m going to say. The guy cares. Campbell wears his heart on his sleeve. It’s not hard to pick out a phony and Cambell isn’t one of them. Automatic quote machine. Knows how to command the room. Even if you don’t agree with everything Campbell is doing, how do you not respect his message?
If you haven’t watched Hard Knocks yet, it’s worth the watch for the Lions’ head coach alone.
Is there a chance the Lions are sneaky in 2022? We know that this Lions team is going to play their ass off for their head coach. It’s not really a great division outside of Green Bay. The Bears are in the toilet. Even with the switch to Kevin O’Connell, don’t we kinda know what this Vikings team is? Also, the NFC is far less of a gauntlet than the AFC is. Just saying.
Detroit is improving rapidly. When you’re bad for this long, it’s hard to stay bad when you have premium draft capital constantly coming towards your franchise. The roster is improving. If Detroit can find their franchise quarterback, maybe they have something here.
Truth be told, I’m pessimistic that Campbell ever becomes a great head coach but I’m rooting for him.
Regardless, even if Detroit struggles again this year, Campbell is the right guy for the job. He’s trying to build a culture and there is nothing more important than that for this Lions franchise. A tip of the cap to you, sir.
