You just can’t have quitters in the locker room when you’re gearing up for a playoff run. The 49ers cut bait with De’Vondre Campbell for the same exact reason. It was the beginning of the end for Diontae Johnson in Baltimore when he refused to check into the game against Philadelphia. Now he’s been cut from the roster entirely.
The Ravens team account was the first to report the news of Johnson being waived. Former Bears wide receiver and Memphis product Anthony Miller is being called up from the practice squad to replace the bum on the roster.
Johnson, 28, will end his Ravens tenure with one catch for six yards. He played a total of 39 snaps for the team after being acquired via trade. A trade that included pick swap that likely will only be about 10 spots in the 5th and 6th round.
The craziest part of this story is the Ravens are banged up at receiver right now. heading into the last couple weeks of the season, Nelson Agholor is dealing with a concussion and Rashod Bateman has a foot injury. Maybe it’s time for Tylan Wallace to get a larger role in the offense beyond just being a punt returner.
Also, if you picked Johnson in fantasy this year, just know I don’t feel bad for you. I tried to tell you not to invest here. It’s your problem if you didn’t listen. Trey is the king at fantasy football. If you choose not to listen, you’re only hurting yourself.
I can’t imagine any contender is itching to pick up the former Toledo product in free agency. Not after this mess in Baltimore. Who wants this clown?
