Former Bengals offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth will sign with the Los Angeles Rams. ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the news.
He will receive a three-year deal worth $36 million. $15 of which will be guaranteed. During the first 2 years of his deal, Whitworth will earn $24.5 million. This move is a big boost for the Rams offensive line as it allows Greg Robinson to move to guard. Let’s hope that this move helps the development of young quarterback Jared Goff moving forward.
Whitworth, 35, has spent his entire career with the Bengals to this point. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 2nd best tackle in the NFL in 2016 as he is still very productive even at this age. He had an overall player grade of 92.5. The Bengals tried to re-sign the former 2nd round pick from LSU back in 2006 but the Rams made a better offer.
