The Oakland Raiders and free agent center Rodney Hudson have agreed to a contract. The deal is worth five years, $44.5 million dollar deal. Jason La Canfora broke the story on twitter.
The Raiders will wind up stealing the Cheifs valuable center. Hudson, 25, was the third best center in the league last season according to Pro Football Focus. The Chiefs originally selected Hudson in the second round of the 2011 draft out of Florida State. Ultimately after franchise tagging Justin Houston and signing Jeremy Maclin to a mega deal, there simply wasn’t enough money to retain Hudson.
The Raiders on the other hand finally found someone to take their money. Going into free agency the team had upwards of 50 million to spend. Incumbent center Stephen Wisnewski, who is currently a free agent will look to find a new home this offseason. After making Hudson the highest paid center ever, the team will look to upgrade other positions. Julius Thomas, Mike Iupati, and Terrence Knighton are a few of the teams targets.
