Tom Brady is not a fan of Sam Darnold, and that’s now essentially been confirmed. When the Raiders were searching for a quarterback this offseason, Brady vetoed the idea of Vegas signing Darnold.
The Athletic’s Michael Silver reported the news here (Don’t click the link. It’s by the scumbags. I’ll share the necessary info and keep it moving).
“While some believed the Las Vegas Raiders would try to sign Darnold, minority owner Tom Brady—a seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback whose opinion held great sway—was not in favor of that approach, according to a source familiar with the franchise’s internal discussions,” Silver wrote.
Brady liked the way Smith “can process and throw the football,”
Let me close with these two additional thoughts:
A: If this story is true, I can guarantee this made the Raiders’ decision very easy. Pete Carroll wanted his guy back, and if Darnold was out, this made that much easier to happen.
B: Sorry, not sorry, but Brady is a complete idiot if he actually thinks Geno Smith’s age 35 season is a better investment than Darnold’s age 28 season for cheaper money while also forking over an extra third round pick to Seattle for Geno.
So, yeah. Me and Tom aren’t going to agree on this one. I’d much rather be Seattle, which used that extra third round pick to also turn the card in for Jalen Milroe.
This is also the same franchise that took a running back in the first round who’s really not that good, while being a guaranteed last place team.
This Geno thing is going to end very badly. Mark my words.
