Raiders Named 2019 Hard Knocks Team

Hard Knocks

Hard Knocks
The Raiders have been named the 2019 Hard Knocks Team. Hold on to your shorts, this is must-see TV (Joe Camporeale/USA TODAY Sports)

The single best thing about teams opening up training camp is watching Hard Knocks. HBO does an incredible job taking you the viewer inside the locker room of one lucky (or unlucky) NFL team. Last year we got to see just how clueless Hue Jackson was. This year is somehow even better. The Oakland Raiders have been named the 2019 Hard Knocks team.

VIA RAIDERS

“HBO Sports, NFL Films and the Raiders team up for an unfiltered all-access look at what it takes to make it in the National Football League when HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP WITH THE OAKLAND RAIDERS kicks off its five-episode season this summer. Spotlighting this AFC West franchise that has an intriguing mix of established veterans, highly regarded rookie hopefuls and free-agent acquisitions under head coach Jon Gruden, the 14th edition of the 18-time Sports Emmy® Award-winning series debuts TUESDAY, AUG. 6 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT). Other hour-long episodes of the first sports-based reality series – and one of the fastest-turnaround programs on TV – debut subsequent Tuesdays at the same time, with encore plays Wednesday nights, culminating in the Sept. 3 season finale.”

This can’t come soon enough. There’s so much train wreck potential. It’s must watch TV. How much of a cancer is Antonio Brown? Does Jon Gruden have a clue what he’s doing? Can Derek Carr actually lead? How big of an asshole is Vontze Burfict? The only thing I’m missing is more Marshawn Lynch. Boy, would that be the cherry on top.

One thing I want to see is Mike Mayock interact with Gruden. Is Mayock just a puppet or does he actually have real input? There are some rookies that will get some shine too. The Raiders had an abysmal draft. It will be fascinating to see how some of them perform in practice. Everybody knows how impatient Gruden is too.
