Prime Video To Produce Documentary On Jason Kelce’s 2022 Season

Next month, Amazon’s Prime Video will release a documentary that follows Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce throughout the 2022 season, it was announced Monday.

There have been a number of recent documentaries on athletes. Michael Jordan started the boom with his “The Last Dance” series, then Tom Brady followed suit; recently released “Quarterback” and “Untold” have also enjoyed early success, too. Now, Kelce plans to release a documentary called “Kelce,” which is set to premiere on Sept. 12.

Jason Kelce has established himself as one of the most compelling and influential characters in sports, both on and off the field,” said Matt Newman, head of Prime Video Original sports content via release. “We’re privileged to partner with Skydance Sports, 9.14 Pictures, Vera Y Productions, and NFL Films on this project, which welcomes fans into the psyche of one of the greatest centers in the history of the league for what is arguably the wildest and most eventful season of his illustrious career.

The documentary will follow Kelce as he faces retirement, an unforgettable season, and the birth of his third daughter. Kelce also debuted his chart-topping podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with brother, Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.

Around the NFL, Kelce garners high respect and stands as one of the game’s greatest centers in history. This season, the 35-year-old surpassed Chuck Bednarik for the most regular-season games played by an offensive lineman in Eagles history; 133 of those games have also contributed to his consecutive start streak, which has been accumulating since 2015.

Kelce’s Greatness

He has earned a first-team All-Pro berth in five of the last six seasons and is coming off one of the best campaigns of his career, helping the Eagles reach Super Bowl LVII. Philly fell short in the big game, suffering a 38-35 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs.

This was Kelce’s second Super Bowl appearance with the Eagles, contributing to Philadelphia’s victory in Super Bowl LII, where they secured their first Lombardi Trophy. Kelce earned an 89.4 PFF grade, good for 2nd among all centers. He also landed on the NFL top 100 list for a fifth straight year at the 71st spot.
