It’s Pretty Obvious Ron Rivera Hates Eric Bieniemy
Eric Bieniemy is the new offensive coordinator in Washington. If you can read between the lines, you already know that Commanders’ head coach Ron Rivera hates him.
Has anyone else kept up with this story because I can’t recall a time I’ve seen anything like it. Rivera made comments to the media that players were complaining Bieniemy. Rivera claimed that multiple players stormed into his office to rip the new OC.
Rivera then today followed up and gave a weak attempt at an apology.
“I basically told him I put my foot in my mouth,” Rivera said. “I think what I said wasn’t as clear as it needed to be. I think the understanding of it is just the fact that I think everybody’s making, in my opinion, a little bit more than needs to be made of this.”
I’m sorry, but this is unacceptable. A coach being hard on their players isn’t something that’s uncommon. The craziest part about this story is nobody knew about this in the media. Rivera felt the need to rat on Bieniemy and we all know why. Washington has a new ownership group and Rivera knows he’s on the hot seat. Bieniemy is a logical candidate to replace him given all of the success he had with Andy Reid.
It’s fair to wonder if Rivera even wanted Bieniemy hired. Did Rivera have a say in this hire? By the sound of his comments, he may not have had a say here.
Riddle me this, If Bieniemy coaches the offense, Del Rio coaches the defense, what exactly is Washington paying Rivera for? To screw up in the media? Give me a break.
