Predicting Where Aaron Rodgers Plays Next Season

It has been a roller coaster of a year for Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers this season. It felt like the whole world was rooting against him this year based on his vaccination status along with the high expectations this Packers team had. A loss in the Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers could spell the end of the Rodgers era in Green Bay. A long-standing history of frustration with the front office could lead to Rodgers either retiring or playing for another team next season. I believe Rodgers still has some left in the tank and retirement isn’t an option for him this off-season. With that being said, let’s take a look at 5 teams I believe he could suit up for next season.

*This list is in no particular order*

#1 Denver Broncos

You could argue that this team has nearly everything Rodgers could want: weapons at receiver and running back, strong defense, and if the rumors are true that Nathaniel Hackett could be going to Denver to be their new Head Coach, he wouldn’t even have to learn a new offense. Denver has the assets to potentially trade for the former league MVP. I would also like to mention that Peyton Manning came to Denver at the end of his career with 1 Super Bowl ring, just like Aaron. The stories line up. Plus, his girlfriend Shailene Woodley lives most of the year in Boulder, Colorado.

#2 Pittsburgh Steelers

If Aaron Rodgers wanted to go to a team that has nice weapons and a solid defense, look no further than the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have a young running back, nice receivers on the outside, and a defense that with the right tinkering can get back to their elite ways in no time. Plus they have one of the best coaches in the league in Mike Tomlin (and we all remember the little look they gave each other this season). The only downside to this option is the offensive line in Pittsburgh is less than ideal, to say the least.

#3 San Francisco 49ers

Just imagining Aaron Rodgers in a 49ers jersey is a sight to behold. It all lines up! California kid, good offensive line, elite WR, good to great defense, young offensive-minded Head Coach. The 49ers have enough pieces to make this work, too. The trade would have to have Jimmy Garoppolo which I think the Packers front office would definitely rather have him than Jordan Love. This also puts the 49ers in win-now mode on the heels of this season where they have made the NFC Championship.

#4 Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are another team that is a Quarterback away from being a Super Bowl Contender. Carson Wentz showed in the final game of the season that he is not fit anymore to lead a team on a playoff run. The idea that Wentz could play for his third team in three years is wild but not out of the question. The offensive line in Indy is among the best in the league and a big thing to consider here is come the winter months, Rodgers would be playing in a dome. That is a scary thought. Plus, if he goes to the Colts maybe he and Pat McAfee could have Aaron Rodgers Tuesday in studio.

#5 Cleveland Browns

I firmly believe that the sleeper team on this list is the Cleveland Browns. Let me explain. 5th best defense in the NFL last year. Premier running back in Nick Chubb. The offensive line is among the best in the AFC. The AFC North is a division in flux right now with everything going on with Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Cleveland is missing a true number one receiver but if they can land a guy in the draft or bring a nice veteran in free agency, I don’t see why Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t consider Cleveland as a viable option. Cleveland might not be the sexiest city to live in, but he’s only there for 2-3 years tops.

At the end of the day, the off-season just began for the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers, so no one has any idea where he will end up. He may decide to hang up his cleats and ride off into the sunset and leave the negative media and the Packers drama behind him. But if he does play next year, I do not believe it is for the Packers and it will be one of the teams listed in this article. When he does, be sure to come back so I can say I told you so.
