Popular Korean Tteokbokki Chain ‘Yupdduk’ Expands to Canada, United States

Tteokbokki is one of the most iconic dishes of Korean cuisine, with the popular Korean chain “Yupdduk” opening new locations across North America. Let’s dive into the deductible dish, along with where you can find Yupdduk.

The Food

It’s a rich soupy sauce made with gochujang (Korean chili paste), gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes), soy sauce, garlic and more. It has a sweet tang with an exciting kick from the chilis. The star of the dish is tteok, which is a small Korean rice cake that can take up pretty much any form, but the most common is a cylindrical one.

It’s chewy and absorbs all the sweet and spicy flavors from the sauce. As well as the sauce and rice cakes, there are other fun additions that are added to this dish. Popular toppings include large chunks of cabbage, fish cakes, mini hot dogs plus an egg and cheese sauce right on top.

However, you don’t have to travel to Korea anymore to try this authentic dish. Yupdduk these past few years has now opened locations all around North America. Their top locations are in the some of the bigger cities of the continent, such as Toronto, New York City and Los Angeles. They sell them just as fresh and delicious as they do in Korea, so head on over there as soon as you can!
