Is Deion Sanders‘ Colorado Garnering More Bets Than NFL Teams?

The Coach Prime effect is real. Deion Sanders‘ Buffs have gone from a one-win program just a season ago, to becoming the most talked-about team in the nation.

After their stunning victory as 21-point underdogs against TCU, sports bettors have been all over the Buffaloes. Colorado opened up against Nebraska as 7.5-point underdogs but that quickly changed after last Saturday. Their upset over TCU had oddsmakers switch the line all the way to Colorado being favored by three points, which they evidently covered.

Some experts claimed this was a trap bet by the bookies in Vegas, and if it was, bettors took the bait. According to ESPN, bettors threw more money on Colorado than 30 NFL teams this weekend. The only teams with more action were the Lions and the Chiefs who played in the season opener Thursday night.

Every time I have glanced at the college football ticker since Saturday, I have seen a line of Colorado bets,” Joey Feazel, lead college football trader for Caesars Sportsbook said. “The action has been crazy.”

As many people have seen, Sanders has used his unique coaching approach to make Colorado do a complete 180. The team revamped the roster and picked up some big names in the transfer portal. Sheduer Sanders breaking a single-game school passing record in his first game and Travis Hunter playing both sides of the ball have had people going crazy over the new and improved team.

Deion Sanders has done something that very few coaches have ever been able to do. He has been able to flip the narrative about Colorado, and after just one week of the regular season, the AP poll put the Buffaloes as the country’s No. 22 ranked team–which will improve after their win over Nebraska Saturday. The remainder of the season is going to be fun to watch as people will be betting on whether Deion Sanders and his squad can live up to the hype for the rest of the season.
