Brandon Clarke was one of the biggest steals of the 2019 NBA Draft. The Memphis Grizzlies absolutely nailed it by picking him. The 2019 Summer League MVP is fitting along nicely into the Grizzlies rotation, a rotation that Clarke deserves to be a bigger part of. One of the craziest states to come from college basketball last season was Clarke having more blacks than missed shots. Yes, you read that right. All this dude knows how to do is ball, and he is finally starting to get the attention, but not as much as he deserves.
Clarke is an absolute athletic freak of nature. He can stretch the floor, drive off the dribble, or get up and shove his crotch into someones face.
Clarke’s numbers are great for a rookie; 13 ppg, 64% from the field, 45% from 3 and 5 rebounds per game. He is also playing around 20 minutes per game, but when you are in the middle of a rebuild, why not increase that number by a few? He should be playing at least 25 minutes a game. That should be the minimum. His only drawback is his hight, which is something that he cannot control. His listed position is Power Forward, and at 6’8 puts him at the lower end of the PF position. He can’t really be counted as a big man, but that does not stop him from taking it to the big fellas down low.
Brandon Clarke has a bright future ahead with the Grizzlies. His rookie counterpart Ja Morant will be the cornerstone for the organization moving forward, and Jaren Jackson Jr is the big man that will get the most attention from the Grizzlies offense as the years go on. But Clarke is a nice piece to have. Please, Coach Jenkins, play this man more. He has earned it and deserves it. To not reward Clarke for his hustle and effort will be one of the greatest crimes against humanity.
