Well, we’ve made it folks. 18 weeks have come and gone and now we find ourselves at the beginning of another hopefully magical postseason. With the start of the postseason comes extra opportunities to make some money, so with that in mind, let’s go over some prop bets to target in these wild-card matchups and hopefully win you some cash.
Quick aside, I should go over my picks from last week. We went 3-2 once again to make us 6-4 so far — not terrible but certainly not where I want to be. Hayden Hurst was unable to turn four receptions into at least 30 yards, while Aaron Rodgers dropped a stinker in a game I expected him to dominate. But it’s a new week and I will not be happy until we are hitting on at least four picks.
I know this may seem like a lofty number to be starting off with but let’s not forget just how great Justin Jefferson truly is. I know he got worked by Jaire Alexander and hey, it happens to even the best players.
Still, the Giants don’t have anyone on this secondary close to as good as him and I expect Jefferson to feast this wild-card weekend as a result. I know he’s looking for a big bounce-back game and against a roster as weak as this Giants one, I don’t see why he shouldn’t have a big day.
When looking at the potential options for this inner division matchup this prop immediately jumped at me.
The Ravens and John Harbaugh are going to do their best to ensure that Ja’Marr Chase doesn’t lose them the game. As a result, I expect Tee Higgins to sort of go under the radar and earn some favorable matchups. In the absence of Chase, Higgins and Joe Burrow established an even stronger connection and the Clemson product is now a reliable option for the star quarterback.
I simply believe that once you get to the playoffs, you just need to bet/rely on the big-time players. This weekend, there might not be a better player than Josh Allen.
Allen has made countless plays that leave people marveling, and in the playoffs, you need the guys who can bail you out and create offense for themselves. That is the Josh Allen special if I’ve ever heard it. He has also torched Miami in the two times he faced them, and I expect this week to be no different. Don’t overthink it!
To call Austin Ekeler a versatile weapon would be a severe understatement. The man truly does it all for this Chargers offense and is a big part of their playoff berth. His versatility both as a runner and receiver makes him a matchup nightmare as few teams have the personnel to contain him out of the backfield.
This Jaguars defense is no different. I expect the chargers to try and get Justin Herbert and Ekeler going early and will likely do that with some screens and dump-offs. In theory, this should yield great results for the Western Colorado product this wild-card weekend.
In my preview of this game, I talked about how important it is for this Baltimore team to establish a presence on the ground, especially with Lamar Jackson almost certainly not playing.
In trying to ignite the run game, J.K. Dobbins should receive a heavy dose of carries. He’s taken over as the lead back since coming back from his injury rushing for 93, 120 and 125 yards in three of his last four games. He is clearly the hot hand to feed in that backfield right now and if the Ravens want a chance of winning, Dobbins needs to have a big game.
There we have it, five prop bets that will hopefully see us hit at a clip better than 60%. I feel confident in my picks this week and will be very disappointed if I don’t see at least four winners. But regardless, I’m going to enjoy some playoff football this weekend, and if you have a team in the fight, good luck!
If you are listening to my advice, then I truly hope that my picks work as intended and win you some money, since losing cash inevitably makes the football-viewing experience so much worse. And we don’t want that.
