Put my fantasy team in MLB The Show: How’d they do?
We are now ten weeks into The 2023 Vendetta Fantasy Baseball Season, and I had an idea. After seeing my team start out with a .500 record through the first ten weeks, I put my fantasy team to the test. Assembling my roster in MLB The Show 23 and take them online to play a game in Ranked Seasons.
Slow Start in Fantasy:
My fantasy team started out about as bad as you can expect going 0-3 out the gate, just not clicking on both sides of the ball. In the midst of that, I traded away my best hitter in Yordan Alvarez. Times were not looking so good. However, I can say I am glad about how my team has turned things around despite where we are.
Since week three my team has gone 5-2 (could’ve been 6-1… thanks Jack). With names such as Mookie Betts and Bryan Reynolds holding down a top 3 offense in the league, with Mitch Keller and Chris Sale (before he went down) leading a rotation that was put together with duct tape and glue.
Performance in MLB The Show
The fantasy squad performed how I’d expected them to with the offense being the focal point of the team’s identity. Although I have learned very quickly this season that pitching in this fantasy league will be key to team success, and in MLB The Show, it was no different if I wanted to walk away with a win. If my pitching staff can hold down the responsibility without one of my better arms in Sale now, this team can compete with anyone.
Future looks Bright
As the baseball season unfolds, my fantasy team encountered a challenging start. Injuries plagued some key players, and certain players underperformed compared to expectations. However, despite the setbacks, I maintain unwavering faith in my fantasy team’s ability to turn the tide and remain competitive down the stretch. The fun of fantasy baseball lies in its unpredictability.
Mirroring the unpredictable nature of the real game, where players can go through hot and cold streaks, and teams can experience highs and lows throughout the season. Looking further, I have a sense of optimism. My fantasy squad undoubtedly has the potential to make significant strides and climb up the standings. With my top players finding their form and the supporting cast stepping up, maybe another trade or two. The potential for a strong finish and the satisfaction of seeing my team exceed expectations are enough to make me a happy man.
