There is less than a week until the start of the regular season. The Phoenix Suns are one of the teams that improved a lot this offseason.
The Phoenix Suns were the only team in the Bubble to go undefeated. They would have made the playoffs but the Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trail Blazers edged them out for the number eight and nine seeds.
But, now are they destined to make the playoffs now.
Key Additions: Chris Paul, Jae Crowder, Abdel Nadar, E’Twaun Moore
The two biggest additions here are Chris Paul and Jae Crowder. Placing an established leader in the league with Devin Booker in the backcourt will pay huge dividends for this team. The team had to give up a lot to get him, but it will be worth it for them.
The addition of Crowder brings a good 3 and D player to the wings. Crowder is coming off a finals appearance with the Miami Heat.
The other additions don’t add much.
Key Losses: Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre Jr., Ty Jerome, Aron Baynes, Frank Kaminsky
The biggest names lost here are Ricky Rubio and Kelly Oubre Jr.
Rubio wasn’t the most ideal point guard but still produced a lot of playmaking for this team. While Oubre was a sharpshooter on the wings.
Projected Starting Rotation: Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Jae Crowder, Dario Saric, DeAndre Ayton
This is a pretty well-balanced lineup. It provides offense and scoring. But it will also provide a defense. The biggest problem for the Suns will be their bench, there might not be much bench points.
Season Outlook
Will the Suns repeat the success they had in the bubble? Will they make the playoffs? How will Chris Paul affect this team?
There are a lot of questions to be answered for the Suns, but the Suns will make the playoffs as a seven or eight seed in the West.
