Philadelphia 76ers End Trade Talks With James Harden

After a long and frustrating offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers have pulled the plug on trade talks with superstar point guard James Harden. Philadelphia plans to bring him back for training camp before the start of the season, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

The NBA world has had open ears on the James Harden situation for months now. Many speculated Harden to join his former team in the Houston Rockets. The team that he found the most success with. But, later in the offseason, Harden gained interest for a new team, the Los Angeles Clippers. A while back, Harden became determined to leave Philadelphia.

“Harden’s stance has not changed,” The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported. “He still wants to leave Philadelphia. He’s still upset with how (president of basketball operations Daryl) Morey handled his situation heading into possible free agency last month.

“Determined to start next season in a Clippers jersey.”

^  You know the deal with these links from The Athletic. Don’t click. It’s behind a paywall.

Philadelphia was already in a terrible spot. Not gaining any ground in terms of improvement, and even less in the playoffs. They’re stuck in this same motion over and over again. Almost every year, it’s a second-round exit. Betting sites might as well take the 76ers off the championship odds because they won’t win anything soon. They would be better off adding a second-round exit odds, and we all know Philadelphia would be at the very top.

Although Harden is growing older, he still can be a great player. Keyword, “can” be a great player. We all saw what happened to him in the playoffs last season. Over the course of his career, the beard has averaged 25 points per game on 44 percent shooting from the field. But now, he is slowly shifting his style of play to a passer. For the past few seasons, Harden has averaged more than 10 assists per game. Slowing down his play style to be more of a team player.

Now with training camp in a month-and-a-half, Harden and the 76ers are looking like a divorced marriage. Will they stay together? Probably not, but the future can only tell so much. Philadelphia has ended trade talks for now, but come the time around the NBA trade deadline, Harden could be complaining and shipped off once again.

Will Harden be traded in the future? Will the Philadelphia experiment take a positive turn? Let us know in the comments down below.
