Paul George Wanted To Be Traded To The Spurs in 2017

I’m upset okay. The Spurs are playing terrible, our rotations are horrible, we can’t score or play defense. Now I’m just chillin’ and I see this report that Paul Fucking George wanted to be traded to the San Antonio Spurs to play with Kawhi. This not only brings up old wounds with the Kawhi Leonard trade, but now we could have had Kawhi and PG on the same team and be contenders to come. I didn’t want to do this article, it hurts me. I’m sad, mad, and confused all at once that we didn’t make this happen. Here is the proof that Paul George said this as reported by ESPN:

“I wanted to be traded to San Antonio,” George says. “We wanted to go to San Antonio first, and we didn’t make that happen.”

Apparently, the Spurs lacked the assets to make it happen. At the time, which seemed like a horrible trade for the Pacers, they traded Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis for Paul George. That, at the time, seemed like a STEAL for the Thunder. Now, looking in retrospect, it was a decent trade for both teams. I fully believed the Spurs could have made the trade happen if they wanted to, which is the most frustrating part for me. The Spurs could have traded LaMarcus Aldridge, who’s washed up now, Danny Green. Patty Mills, Pau Gasol, Kyle Anderson, even Jonathan Simmons. These were all movable pieces that had at least some value back then. Also, have the Spurs never heard of trading draft picks? Why wasn’t that an option, and why didn’t the Spurs pull the trigger.

I can think of a couple of reasons. The Spurs and Gregg Popovich are far too stubborn to trade most of the time unless they have to. They thought that they could contend with Kawhi and LaMarcus Aldridge and the roster they have now. Or they just didn’t want him. The last reason seems stupid but hey, Marco Belinelli is getting 16 minutes a night for the Spurs right now, I’m willing to believe anything. Now, the Spurs have Demar DeRozan and the LaMarcus Aldridge duo, which is killing the Spurs. Kawhi was traded for Demar DeRozan and Jak Poeltl, which we lost Danny Green in the process. The Spurs suck now. So yeah, I am doing great with this piece of information. Don’t mind me, just going to go in the corner and cry.
