The Patriots Make The Most Sense For Odell Beckham

The Odell Beckham thing never worked in Cleveland. Nor did it ever have a fighting chance. Nor did Odell ever feel like Cleveland. Things got so bad that Baker Mayfield had better numbers throwing to quite literally anyone else. Now that Odell is available, there is one team that just makes way more sense than anyone else. Yes, it’s the obvious answer but this is a New Patriots special written all over it.

We don’t need to go down the oral history of things. The best case scenario will always be Randy Moss. The worst case is probably Chad Johnson. Remember when he was a Patriot? Yikes…

Anyway… I don’t feel like this blog needs to be 1,000 words to state the obvious. Bill Belichick takes fliers on superior talent when they’re available for free. Belichick believes in his culture and if it so happens that Odell isn’t a fit, he won’t take too long to move on. That’s the formula.

It’s also not a secret that Belichick hasn’t exactly been a guru talent evaluator. His draft history stinks and it should absolutely be a stain on his otherwise almost perfect legacy. The pressure to win post Tom Brady is immense and Belichick knows he can’t draft wide receivers. He’s never been able to find them minus Julian Edelman unless they’re gift wrapped for him.

The wide receiver talent entering the league is absurd. It feels like every team at least has one stud they can turn to when times are tough. Well, minus the Patriots. Is it fair to call Nelson Agholor the number one wide receiver in New England? News flash; Agholor would be the number five receiver in Dallas. Point is, the Patriots are void of talent at the WR position.

Mac Jones has played quite well, but I’m not sure that’s a surprise. Jones was pro ready coming out of Alabama. It’s a matter of how much better he’s going to get. Acquiring someone like Odell is a good way to find out what you really have. It also seems like Mac has a good should on his head. Additionally, Odell is the main show in town so it won’t be hard for Mac to find him.

Oddly enough, there is a little window here for the Patriots. It’s not really being talked about enough. The AFC is really bad. The Buffalo Bills are clearly the top dog but ask member of Bills Mafia if they’re scared of the Patriots? There are too many bad memories for there not to be.

The Chiefs are bad (somehow). The Ravens are a joke. The Bengals aren’t ready for prime time. Have the Chargers beaten New England ever? The Titans just lost Derrick Henry. Ummmmm. Do I need to say more?

Let’s just get this one over already. Put Odell Beckham in a Patriots jersey already. I’m not sure anyone knows for sure if it will work but the Patriots are clearly the best option. Weirdly enough, a potential move for Odell has a weird butterfly effect in the AFC playoff race. Should we really count out the Patriots?
