Does hip surgery make a Patrick Kane-Blackhawks reunion more likely?

The city of Chicago erupted with anger when right winger Patrick Kane got traded to the New York Rangers. Now, Kane, a free agent, will most likely be out for 4-6 months after a hip surgery procedure.

Kane has been dealing with hip issues for the past couple of seasons, causing him to have his worst season since the 2012-13 season. Despite missing almost half of the year, hockey fans should not be worried, as Kane will only miss most of training camp. Age is a concerning factor, but it does question his future with the New York Rangers.

Do they really want to sign a right winger to a large contract who will come off a surgical procedure with an already developed young team?

Fans might want to see a possible reunion, as the Chicago Blackhawks hold the number one pick for the 2023 NHL Draft. By signing Kane and selecting the predicted consensus No. 1 pick, Connor Bedard Blackhawks fans could only dream.

NHL fans would love to see it happen, as Kane was a former No. 1 pick himself. It would be a mentor and apprentice duo as Kane could teach the ropes and pass the torch to Bedard once Kane retires.

It would also be spectacular to watch these two play. Kane provides a skill set of on-point shooting skills, handling the puck well and being a fantastic passer, while Bedard provides all of those traits as well with better speed.

If this were to happen, they would need to give Kane a massive contract. The Blackhawks were a sight for sore eyes as they finished dead last in the central division, the second worst in the Western Conference, and third worst in all of the NHL.

What do you think about a possible Kane-Blackhawks reunion? Let us know in the comments!
