Paige VanZant has a hot take on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship. The former UFC fighter believes the relationship is fake and is a publicity stunt.
VanZant spoke about Swift and Kelce’s relationship on her podcast Paige and Austin: A Kickass Love Story. All quotes via The New York Post.
“I think that the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce ‘love story,’ I believe it’s 100 percent fake,” she said. “Come for me, Swifties.’ I have UFC fans coming for me, I think I can handle the “Swifties.’”
The Swift and Kelce relationship has been massive news. That is what happens when one of the most popular artists begins to date one of the best football players in the world. Essentially, Vanzant believes the relationship is pulling two contrasting demographics into one large group.
“It is publicity. It is — one, it’s huge for the NFL because yes, the NFL is big. Taylor Swift is huge and now she’s getting an entirely different demographic to come watch the NFL,” VanZant continued. “Think of the wives that are buying Travis Kelce jerseys now. It’s a huge publicity play on both fronts. It’s good for Taylor Swift, it’s good for the NFL, it’s good for Travis Kelce. There is so much strategic stuff that’s happening.”
The Swift and Kelce relationship has certainly been good business for the NFL. It is a situation they can not lose. In a worst-case scenario, nobody cares and people stop talking about it. In a best-case scenario, the NFL converts Swifties into football fans.
Let’s be fair to Swift and Kelce, it is very easy to claim anything publicity stunt. For example, you could argue that VanZant is saying this to promote her brand-new podcast.
Is VanZant correct? Is the Swift and Kelce love story a fabrication or is it legitimate?
