Packers Cut Former Third Round Pick Amari Rodgers

I gave the Packers a D for the 2021 NFL Draft class and nothing about today is surprising. Eric Stokes is awesome (but now sadly hurt) and Amari Rodgers got cut. Wow. Shocker! Who could have saw that coming!

The Packers announced the move via the team website. Running back Kylin Hill was also released as part of the news. Rodgers is just the more notable name considering where the two were picked in that 2021 NFL Draft class. Hill was an interesting player coming out of Mississippi State but probably went around the place he should have in the 7th round. Especially when you combine the off-the-field stuff.

Below is the Packers’ presser announcing the news.

“The Green Bay Packers released WR Amari Rodgers and RB Kylin Hill. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Tuesday.

Rodgers was originally selected by the Packers in the third round (No. 85 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft and played in 26 regular-season games with one start and one postseason contest.

Hill was originally drafted by the Packers in 2021 in the seventh round (No. 256 overall) and played in 10 games in two seasons.”

Rodgers, 23, ends his Packers tenure with eight catches for 95 yards in 26 games. Don’t forget about five fumbles just this year. Hard to stay on the team when you produce nothing except fumbles.

Score another one for scout Trey. 7th round guy that maybe is a mediocre slot at best turned out to be very accurate. Weird how that works. Is it weird? Do you read the stock notes each week? HMMMM.
