Are we really about to see Pascal Siakam in a Pacers uniform? Does that do anything for anyone that doesn’t live in the state of Indiana? Two teams stuck in the middle may make a trade with each other to make sure that stops happening. Pascal Siakam is likely on the move this Summer and Indiana could be the destination.
Marc Stein at Substack says that a Siakam trade is far more likely than an extension at this point. He also says that the Pacers have been really aggressive in their pursuit of the former New Mexico State product. Again, don’t bother clicking the Stein link. It’s behind a paywall. I told you all the information that you need to know.
Does Siakam make sense for the Pacers? I guess? Isn’t this also the same scenario the Pacers had with Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner? Why not keep Sabonis if you thought the two big man thing worked? Indiana does get that Siakam is a worse player than Sabonis, right?
We’re also a few weeks removed from Siakam stating that he would like to end his career with the Raptors. It doesn’t sound like he has any interest in leaving. Of course, it may not be his choice and Toronto needs to pick a land after losing Fred VanVleet. Restarting this puppy is probably the correct choice of action for the Raptors.
Siakam, 29, averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 71 games across 37.4 minutes last season for the Raptors.
