Orioles to Call Up No. 6 Prospect Connor Norby

The Baltimore Orioles are already one of the best teams in baseball this year. It appears they’ll get even better as the team will call up Connor Norby from Triple-A.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reported the news of the Orioles No. 6 prospect. The 23-year-old superutilityman replaces Jorge Mateo, who was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list.

Norby has been playing both second base and the corner outfield positions this year. He hit 286/.374/.510 with nine home runs and 36 RBIs in 51 AAA games.

The O’s No. 6 prospect is one of many to get the call. Jackson Holliday(No. 1), Heston Kjerstad(No. 4), and Kyle Stowers have all been called up by the Orioles this year. Although Holliday and Kjerstad went back to AAA, Norby has a chance of keeping his mark.

Being a utilityman will play to his advantage, and with Mateo out for at least a week, Norby should get some regular at-bats. The Orioles start a road trip against the Blue Jays on Monday, with Norby set to make his debut during the series.

The Orioles see the second-round pick from 2021 as part of their future. However, after the news of John Means and Tyler Wells out for the season, Norby could potentially be trade bait at the deadline.

The Orioles are currently 37-20, 3 games back of the Yankees in the AL East. The team holds the first Wild Card seed, five games over the second-seed Royals.

Nevertheless, the Orioles’ future is extremely bright. They already have one of the best farm systems in baseball. Pair that with the young core that exists now and this team will be good for a very long time.
