Olin Kreutz: Chicago Bears Offered Me $15 Per Hour Job

The Chicago Bears are absolute cheapskates, they don’t even help out their own. Olin Kreutz played 13 seasons for the Chicago Bears at center, and he made six Pro Bowls. He has a fairly clear message to ownership on how to improve, start opening up your checkbook.

The Bears aren’t willing to spend the money required to bring in good and competent people to run the organization and have them win their first Super Bowl since the 80s. Kreutz brought up his own story of being offered $15 an hour, the MINIMUM WAGE in Chicago, to work with the team’s offensive linemen.

The last time they offered me a job they offered me $15 an hour. That’s the way they do business. Those are things that have to change. Harry wanted me to come in and help with the offensive line development, help coach the offensive line. They offered me $15 an hour to come in there as an independent contractor.

Kreutz also indicated that the team made a similar lowball offer to Donovan Raiola, who did accept the offer but has now left to become the offensive line coach at Nebraska with a guaranteed yearly salary of $325,000.

I mean what are we doing here Chicago? You have a struggling offensive line, and your offer to one of the best linemen in recent memory for the Bears is minimum wage? No wonder you guys stink, it’s a slap in the face to Olin Kreutz that that was your offer to get him to help coach the offensive line. Do better.
