Coming off the heels of a stellar 2023 where he posted 38 receptions for 798 yards and ten touchdowns, expectations were sky-high for Oklahoma’s Nic Anderson. Many pegged him to be the breakout player in the SEC. However, Anderson hurt his quad before the season began, and despite multiple efforts to debut in 2024, he decided to redshirt and sit out the entire season. He would announce he would be entering the transfer portal, shortly after his Quarterback Jackson Arnold announced the same.
Nic Anderson should be a very enticing player in the transfer portal. During his freshman season, he averaged 21.0 yards per reception, good enough for fifth in the entire country. Anderson was formerly a four-star recruit coming out of Katy, Texas. The 6’4, 219 lb receiver is a big play waiting to happen, who can use his massive frame and catch radius both in the red zone but also can work the middle of the field well. A physical receiver, Anderson can get out and block but also has enough top-end speed to hit those home runs you are looking for. He is the type of receiver you can plug into any offense out there.
If I were the Head Coach of a Power Four team, I would be Sending The House (IYKYK) on Nic Anderson. He showcased his explosive playmaking ability a season ago, and I would be banking on him finding that form again in a new system. I truly believe he could plug and play into any school’s offense in the country and be a difference-maker. This move does come as a slight shock, but the Jackson Arnold news probably is what sealed the deal.
