Does South Carolina have the best quarterback room in the country? I didn’t exactly have that on my bingo card but it just might be the case. LaNorris Sellers is emerging as a superstar in college football and now the Gamecocks have landed another young talent behind him. Air Noland is on his way to South Carolina.
Noland will leave Ohio State via the transfer portal to commit to the Gamecocks.
Hayes Fawcett of On 3 was the first to report the news:
Noland, a 4-star prospect and 4th overall QB in the 2024 recruiting cycle, has signed up for a backup role in 2025. He would have been the backup at Ohio State too. The only difference is, it appears that Julian Sayin is ahead of him on the depth chart. Sayin is also a freshman and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
This is a fascinating decision by Noland. He’s going to play behind Sellers but does that mean just next year? Sellers is just set to wrap up his redshirt freshman season. He has the option declare for the 2026 NFL Draft but that’s not a given. He technically could stay there another three seasons if he wants to. Is this a sign South Carolina already knows Sellers will likely leave after the 2025 campaign? That part remains to be seen. Either way, smart by Shane Beamer and the rest of the program to cover their bases in case Sellers does depart early for the NFL.
