NXT Vengeance Day 2024 Preview and Predictions

The WWE main roster is now firmly on the road to WrestleMania 40, but now it is time to turn our attention to NXT as they prepare to strut their stuff on their first Premium Live Event of the year: Vengeance Day!

As mentioned in our countdown of the best matches of 2023, NXT had quite the year in 2023 as they managed to find their own identity again after the death of the 2.0 era. There are six matches booked for the show, so let’s have a look at what to expect and what might happen.

My name is Sam Palmer from Vendetta Sports Media, and here are my predictions for NXT Vengeance Day 2024!

Dijak vs. Joe Gacy [No Disqualification Match]

As always, I don’t know the running order of the show, but I have to start with this one because it’s one of the matches I am most excited about. Dijak has become one of NXT’s most threatening heels in recent months, and after getting on the wrong side of a Joe Gacy who is going through something of a character change, this one could genuinely steal the show.

For those unaware of Gacy’s past, he was best known for his work in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) before he joined WWE. CZW is a promotion known for its ultraviolent style that has seen people get thrown off of buildings, land in rings covered in thumbtacks, and have skin ripped off their chests by weedwhackers. So it’s safe to say that Gacy is going to feel right at home with this stipulation. However, I don’t think we have seen the last of this feud and because of this, I’m picking Dijak to walk away with the victory.

PREDICTION: Dijak

The Family vs. Out The Mud [Six-Person Intergender Tag Team Match]

I’ll be honest, this is the match on the show I have the least anticipation for and that’s not for the fault of the people involved, it just has no heat behind it. The Family’s Tony D’Angelo are the current NXT Tag Team Champions and have held the titles since November. They have already defeated Out The Mud on both TV and at live events, and a rematch between the two teams would have felt right at home on this show. However, that’s not what’s happening here.

Jadia Parker and Adriana Rizzo have gotten themselves involved in the match and have made it a six-person intergender tag team match that, let’s be honest, will probably act as something of a toilet break match for people in attendance and at home. One of the reasons I think Rizzo and Parker are in this match is because Shawn Michaels wants Out The Mud to win, while keeping the champions strong. With that said, I’m picking Out The Mud to pick up the win, with Parker pinning Rizzo. Let’s see if they can surprise me.

PREDICTION: Out The Mud

Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin vs. Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams [Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2024 Final]

Spoilers, you’re going to hear the name Trick Williams a lot in this article as the man is pulling double duty on this show. Tournaments in wrestling are a great way to naturally thread stories into the larger world of a promotion, and the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic has worked wonders for NXT since its inception in 2015, with the 2024 tournament being no exception as it has presented a final that is easily the hardest match on the show to call.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams have seen off Edris Enofe and Malik Blade, as well as the Latino World Order on the way to the finals. Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin got past Gallus and the team of Nathan Frazer and Axiom to reach this stage, and there is a genuine case for both teams to win. Breakker and Corbin actually have some great chemistry together, and would be worthy winners. Melo and Williams are two of the top stars in NXT right now, so a win would also make sense. Here, I’m going for Breakker and Corbin, with my reasoning being evident later on in the night.

PREDICTION: Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin

Oba Femi {c} vs. Dragon Lee [NXT North American Championship]

Yes. Yes. Oh Yes. It is time to talk about the present and future GOAT OF NXT, OBA FEMI. After impressing a lot of people with his unreal power and strength on TV, WWE actually struck while the iron was hot for once and gave him the North American Championship, defeating fan favorite Dragon Lee. However, Lee would get his rematch at Vengeance Day in a proper David vs. Goliath match-up.

This will be the first real test of Femi’s WWE career. He might have won the Breakout Tournament in 2023, but his title win over Dragon Lee lasted under 90 seconds due to how dominant he was. Getting in the ring with someone on the level of Lee will be interesting, because if he can hang and be a great base for the luchador, WWE have a real monster on their hands. They aren’t going to cut this run short which is why Femi will retain, but the result isn’t the most important thing here. A great performance for Oba Femi will go a long way in this one.

PREDICTION: Oba Femi

Lyra Valkyria {c} vs. Roxanne Perez [NXT Women’s Championship]

2024 has already been quite the year for the challenger. Roxanne Perez turned heel on the first episode of NXT this year, won a battle royale to determine who would challenge for the Women’s Championship at Vengeance Day, and even made a brief cameo in the 2024 Royal Rumble match. Things are coming together for Perez, who will be looking to carry on the momentum she has made for herself in the first month of the year. But will she beat Lyra Valkyria to become NXT Women’s Champion?

The answer is yes. The reason is that there are a lot of things at play surrounding the champion. Valkyria has firmly established herself as the woman to beat in NXT, but the wildcard is Lola Vice. She won the Women’s Breakout Tournament in 2023, and has a guaranteed shot at the title, but because she is so obsessed with Valkyria, she won’t cash in on her idol. Rather, she will cash in on Perez instead. Maybe on the night, maybe at a later date, but when it comes to this match in a vacuum, Roxanne Perez will dethrone the champ at Vengeance Day.

PREDICTION: Roxanne Perez

Ilja Dragunov {c} vs. Trick Williams [NXT Championship]

Oh hello again Trick Williams, good to see you again. Having already competed in the Dusty Rhodes Classic earlier on in the night, going up against one of the best wrestlers in the entire company in the main event is going to be a very tall order. Dragunov already got the better of Trick’s tag team partner Carmelo Hayes on multiple occasions and went to war with Dijak in a Last Man Standing match, facing prime Ilja would be a test even for some of the best that the main roster has to offer. So what will happen here?

Of course, this is all speculation, but the battle scars from earlier in the night will be too much for Trick. This could be a night where he leaves with everything, but instead, it will be a night where he leaves with nothing. Ilja Dragunov will put in another great performance, and Trick will look like a star in the process, but I get the sense that the pending feud with Hayes is in Trick’s future and not the NXT Championship. Trick Williams will be NXT Champion at some point in 2024, everyone knows this and I think even Dragunov knows it too. But when it comes to NXT Vengeance Day, it will be a night forget for Trick Williams.

PREDICTION: Ilja Dragunov

AND THAT IS THAT! What do you think will happen at NXT Vengeance Day? Let us know in the comments section below! Don’t forget to follow myself and Vendetta Sports Media on all your favorite social media platforms.
