Northwest Nazarene Men’s Basketball Have a Tough Road Ahead

Just last year, I was sitting on the sidelines of the Northwest Nazarene Men’s Basketball team. I was proud of the team whether they had won or lost. When I came to Northwest Nazarene as a freshman, I wanted to be involved with their stats program. So I quickly asked the new head coach Paul Rush if I could and he hired me as a Student Manager. For the past couple of seasons, the Northwest Nazarene Men’s basketball team has had said some great players. Adonis Arms who is now with Winthrop and leading them to the NCAA D1 tournament, played for NNU two seasons ago.

This year has been a weird year for us all. Before the Men’s basketball season even started I left my role as a Student Manager, in the hopes that I would get to broadcast for the team. Sadly, I was not able to do so with Covid, and I didn’t think the coaches would take me back. So I stayed back and watched every game online. But, the thing I miss most about my time with the team is the culture that Paul Rush has built at NNU, Family. They are not just a team, they are a family. The players and Coaches all supported my decision to leave the team.

It was recently announced via the NCAA D2 tournament that the NNU Men’s Basketball team made the tournament for the first time in school history. Here is the team’s reaction:

They will start off playing against the Nazarene rival Point Loma Nazarene, who they lost to by 30 earlier this season. However, this team has grown and matured since that loss and if I know one thing about Paul Rush, he is good at adjusting matchups.

If they beat the Sea Lions tonight, they will move on to face Colorado Mesa tomorrow. Both games will start at 8:45 pm MST.

Look for this team to fight for the win tonight!
