Nolan Arenado Reveals Six Approved Landing Spots Cardinals Can Trade Him To

John Mozeliak, the Cardinals general manager, admitted he was trying to trade Nolan Arenado. Not that it’s not a two-way street or anything. The defensive wizard at the hot corner wants to win and the Cardinals aren’t doing that right now. Congratulations if you’re one of these six teams because that means you’re in the mix to acquire him.

VIA MLB.com:

“Arenado, who is owed $74 million over the next three seasons, has a full no-trade clause in a contract originally signed with the Rockies and assumed by the Cardinals in 2021. Any trade will have to be approved by the 33-year-old Arenado, who hit 16 home runs and drove in 71 runs in 2024. In addition to having the Dodgers, Padres and Angels on his wish list, Arenado would also be willing to accept a trade to the Phillies, Mets or Red Sox, per a source close to the negotiations.”

A trade for Arenado is going to be a tricky one. There is going to have to be some sizeable money coming back the other way.

Arenado, 33, is owed $74 million over the final three years of his contract. There is also deferred money at play here with his deal too. With his power numbers declining, it’s exactly the kind of reason why they want out of this contract. This isn’t a situation where the Cardinals are going to be bringing in a great return here. It will be more similar to when they got robbed for Tyler O’Neill a year ago.

Would the Cardinals be interested in some sort of Masataka Yoshida swap?

The Mets don’t care about money so maybe they would just take him.

The Dodgers are the bogeyman right now so who knows.

The Angels stink so let’s stop pretending that’s a thing.

Maybe the Padres?

Does that about sum it up? Comment who you think he’s going to.
