Nikola Jokic: Big Horse Guy?
It was certainly a busy offseason in the NBA. Griff just did a post on the winners and losers if you want to give that a read. The Suns, Celtics, and Bucks all loaded up and appear improved heading into the 2023-24 NBA Season. What are the Nuggets doing to make sure they repeat as champions? Star big man Nikola Jokic doesn’t appear 1% nervous about it.
What has Jokic done with his time in the offseason? Apparently, he’s a big horse guy. He’s out here scouting horses to add to his collection.
“I am scouting horses,” Jokic said.
When asked how many ponies he’s got, Jokic responded with “Right now, like seven, eight, 10, 12,” Jokic said.
Jokic, 28, is coming off a season where he posted 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game on 63.2% shooting. Somehow, his numbers were even better than that in the playoffs as he won Finals MVP and lifted the Nuggets to their first ever NBA championship. If Jokic wants to spend his time scouting horses, nobody in Denver is going to complain about it. No F’s given about preseason basketball.
It will likely be more of the same for the Nuggets entering this season. The roster that won the title is largely intact minus Bruce Brown who departed this offseason for a big offer from the Pacers. Christian Braun (who I refuse to refer to as Brown. His name is pronounced Bruh Awn. No hair don’t care) will be tasked will filling that void.
