Nico Iamaleava Transfers To UCLA

Tennessee is out. UCLA is in. Nico Iamaleava has a new home as he will also subsequently moving closer to home. The former five star quarterback prospect out of Long Beach, California, will be transferring to the Deshaun Foster led Bruins.

The scumbags over at The Athletic (Don’t click the link it’s behind a paywall, nor would I ever recommend supporting those pieces of trash. I’m just required to list the source) was the first to report the news:

Iamaleava, 20, was Joe Milton’s backup as a freshman. This past year as a sophomore, he threw for  2,616 yards and 19 touchdowns. The numbers and overall play compared to the hype coming out of high school didn’t come close to meeting expectations. I said it in the first post I did on this. I would really have a tough time morally asking for more money given how last season went.

Who knows if we ever find out the truth on what really went down here? No reports have surfaced on what UCLA is going to be paying him. Regardless, the decision to play for Deshuan Foster based on how last year went is a curious decision. Foster went 5-7 in his debut season with the Bruins, and the offense was totally broken. The only hope here being that there is a new offensive coordinator after Eric Bieniemy got kicked to the curb. If Bieniemy was still the playcaller with UCLA, this would be a tragic decision going away from Josh Heupel.
