Drew Sanders was supposed to be the next star at Alabama. Sanders was a five-star recruit and the number one ranked athlete in the state of Texas for the 2020 recruiting class. Couple years later, Sanders is now at Arkansas and thriving since joining the Hogs via the transfer portal.
On the season for Arkansas, Sanders has 32 total tackles, 16 solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, six sacks, two pass deflections and two forced fumbles. Yeah, pretty good considering we’re heading into week five. Sanders has sort of been a jack of all trades but has really thrived at linebacker along with Bumper Pool (who I talked about this week).
Arkansas and Alabama are set to face each other this weekend. Given that fact, it wasn’t surprising that Nick Saban was asked about his former player:
“That was probably what we were going to do, but it never worked out,” Saban said of Sanders moving to the inside, via Bama Online’s Charlie Potter. “It is what it is. It’s good for him that he can play both positions and that he’s doing well.”
I talked a bit about Sanders in my stock report notes. Just go watch him against South Carolina. The man’s hair was on straight fire. That’s going to be a tape you will want to watch. This weekend, oh, you’re going to want to bookmark that one regardless. Can’t wait to see what Drew Sanders looks like against Alabama.
